THE STATE EXAM

The State Real Estate License Exam for Salespersons is written and administered by PSI Examination Services..

The multiple-choice exam is made up of two parts.

The Pennsylvania State Law portion of the exam contains 30 questions about the State License Act and Rules and Regulations of the State Real Estate Commission.

The Uniform portion of the exam contains 80 general questions on ownership, contracts, brokerage, financing and valuation.

The passing score is 70% on each portion of the exam.

To qualify for licensure, the applicant must be at least 18 years of age, complete two pre-license courses (Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice) and pass both portions of the State Exam.

The State Exam is offered daily in a number of Centers throughout the state. Locally it's offered in Harrisburg.

Information regarding how to register to take the exam as well as locations and addresses will be distributed to the students at the beginning of each pre-license course.

Upon passing both portions of the State Exam, you may apply for licensure. An application form to do this will be provided by the testing service when you pass the General portion of the exam.

The application, signed by your sponsoring broker along with your transcripts from both courses, plus application fee and completed state police criminal record check, should be sent to the Real Estate Commission.
